The Summer House

A fully bespoke octagonal summer house adjoining a private outdoor swimming pool, constructed in our workshop from Accoya timber with cedar shingle roof & finished inside as a true year-round retreat.

We were thrilled to be asked to build a large summer house adjoining our clients' outdoor swimming pool. This was a fully bespoke design to provide space for them to enjoy their beautiful garden, whatever the weather. The entire structure was custom-made in our workshop, then carefully constructed on site including fitting out the interior.

After digging the footings, we got to work constructing the framework. The structure consists of a cedar shingle roof & all external woodwork – including windows & doors – was constructed from Accoya, an ultra-durable & stable wood which comes with a 50-year guarantee against rotting or fungi. It is particularly useful for joinery as it prevents the doors & windows from sticking & ensures it can be enjoyed for decades to come.

After the main construction was complete, we fitted the interior of the summer house out to our clients' specifications, including laying tile-effect laminate flooring & installing a kitchen area with oak worktops.

This summer house is now the perfect retreat & can be enjoyed no matter what the great British weather throws at us – from soaking up the sunshine next to the swimming pool to cosy cups of tea & a good book whilst listening to the rain tapping on those (if we do say so ourselves) beautiful windows in the winter.

We were later asked to go back to build a mini version – a lovely little wendy house with mezzanine floor for our clients' grandchildren to play in.
