The Detailed Case Study
Riverside
Extensions & Renovations
A kitchen & utility room makeover that upcycled existing shaker cabinetry with bespoke new units made to match in our joinery workshop, finished with traditional lime plaster, Karndean LVT flooring, beech worktops, & a custom extractor hood.
We were delighted to transform the kitchen and utility room of this beautiful home for our wonderful clients.
The existing kitchen had excellent foundations, with timeless shaker-style cabinetry that deserved to be retained rather than replaced. By carefully restoring and repurposing the original units, alongside manufacturing bespoke matching cabinetry in our in-house joinery workshop, we were able to create a seamless extension to the existing design. The result was a sustainable, cost-effective transformation that maintained the character of the space while significantly improving its functionality.

The Finished Project
The completed Riverside.
As part of the project, we also carried out traditional lime plastering where required before installing Karndean luxury vinyl flooring throughout, creating a durable and cohesive finish that flows effortlessly between the two rooms.
With the new cabinetry installed and perfectly blended with the existing units, the space was ready for its finishing touches. Freshly painted cabinetry, new wall tiling, Karndean flooring and solid beech worktops completely revitalised the kitchen while preserving its original charm.
A particular feature of the project was the bespoke extractor hood, designed and handcrafted to complement the traditional shaker cabinetry and create a striking focal point within the room. Our clients were delighted with the finished design.
To add further character and maximise the use of materials, we also suggested crafting new window boards and floating shelves from the offcuts of the beech worktops. These thoughtful details tied the scheme together beautifully while minimising waste.
The transformation continued into the utility room, where the layout was reconfigured to provide significantly more storage, improved worktop space and a far more practical area for day-to-day use. The finished room is both highly functional and perfectly in keeping with the style of the adjoining kitchen.
