Part of an existing stable outbuilding was transformed into a spacious self-contained annex for our clients' parents, with a large bedroom & ensuite, separate WC & an open-plan kitchen & living space.

The Brief

Our clients wanted to convert part of their existing stable outbuilding to create a comfortable, self-contained home for their parents.

The brief was to make the most of the space available while providing everything needed for independent day-to-day living. The new annex needed to include a generous bedroom with its own ensuite, an additional WC & a spacious open-plan kitchen & living area.

As the accommodation formed part of an existing outbuilding, it was also important that the conversion worked sympathetically with the character & proportions of the original stable.

The Build

The existing stable space was carefully converted to create the new accommodation, with the internal layout completely reworked around the needs of the finished annex.

Our team coordinated the different stages of the build to turn what had previously been an outbuilding into a properly finished living space. New rooms, services & finishes were introduced throughout, with particular attention paid to creating a layout that felt spacious, practical & comfortable.

The open-plan kitchen & living area became the heart of the annex, while the large bedroom, ensuite & separate WC provide privacy & independence for its occupants.

The Finished Home

The completed Chapel Hill Barn annex has transformed an underused part of the existing stable building into a bright, comfortable & completely self-contained home.

At the centre is the open-plan kitchen & living space, providing plenty of room for everyday living while keeping the layout sociable & practical. The generous bedroom benefits from its own ensuite, with a separate WC completing the accommodation.

The finished space allows our clients' parents to live independently while remaining close to family, giving the original outbuilding an entirely new purpose.
